1920-25 Wedding Party

Some water damage, and its warped.
But the picture and faces are clear.
I love the detail put into the flowers and I just love the brides head dress.
And the Flower Girl's dress is just darling!

I quite like this picture

Look at that head dress! It is just an explosion of awesome.
And the groom...ummm, looks like he got caught in a wind tunnel. Just sayin'

To Mr. & Mrs. Schiffer from Mr. & Mrs. Randault

Such a lovely piece of Victorian history!
Mr. and Mrs. Schiffer must be the couple that stood up with the Couple on their special day.
The dress itself is rather plain, as if the bride would have rather focus on the flowers and other small touches, such as the veil and locket at her throat.
Its a well loved photograph, faded as if it was out on display for a long time...chipped a bit as well. But still a beautiful piece

A World War II Double Wedding

1944.

A Sargent and an unknown ranking officer share a wedding day with their beautiful brides.

A Bit of "Couple Time"

Last weekend me and the Mister went on our very first child free vacation to the Dells. We had a blast! We also antiqued. So that means new pictures for my collection. :-)

I hope you'll like them! I found some very old ones and as recent to 1944 WWII.

They'll be researched and dated and then will be shared with you all soon!

1923

May 5th, 1923 to be exact.

Such a pretty picture. The date was written on the frame.

The top and side were cut to fit a frame. Which is a shame because on the side it looked like names were written.
Photo buttons were glued on...Nice, I suppose.
But then it takes away from the picture. Too much to look at.
But the smaller button is the groom's Army photo...WW1

I took the picture out of the cardstock frame.
They had taped it. TAPE. Oh my.
And then I thought the had super glued the back to the cardstock. Turns out, no. Thank goodness.

A Wedding Album

Yuppers. A whole wedding album. I found it on a trip to Wisconsin Dells 6 years ago. Every page filled. Every picture beautifully capturing that special day.

Engagment or part of the wedding party?

Remember the picture of my friends mother? She's given me the privilege of owning another picture. This one is of her cousin.

Don't mind the photobomb in the back. Focus on the happy couple.
Now, my friend said her mother thought this was either an engagement photo or she was a part of the wedding party. My bets on the fact that it was a wedding that she was a part of, but she also got proposed to there as well and this is a picture of the couple after the happy moment.
By the way...I love that dress and head piece.

Sorry...for the Absence

Does absence make the heart grow fonder? Hope y'all missed me. :)
I've been busy these last two months with family vacations and my littlest one getting his tonsils out and my oldests daycamps and playdates. Soon, I hope everything calms down enought to get me back to posting more pictures. I am planning several antiquing trips to search for more pictures and stories.

Tropics

The background looks so tropical...Maybe the bride came from that background? Or it was in vouge in that particular month.

Grove Church

I do like this picture. Not only for that lovely dress and handsome groom.
But for the church in the background. I actually know what the cornerstone says!
It says: Grove Church
Founded 1773
Rebuilt either 1838 or 1888.

A Wedding Portrait

Simply beautiful.

Young

Goodness! They look so young!
Maybe they approached this wedding day with a bit of fear and lots of hope.

Flora Fauna

Just lovely.

Pretty as a Picture

So pretty, isn't she? She comes to us from Chicago. I love the drape of lace at the hem, and held up by a cluster of rosebuds.

This was my Christmas Present

This past Christmas, Mr. gave me this beautiful picture.

Its from the 40's. And it is  just stunning.

I wish I could read the writting on the bottom.

A Second Marriage

I figure this is a second marriage, possibly two widowers, or a widower taking a wife or husband.
We (The Mr. and I) think the second couple could be thier kids.
This used to be on my wall, but its down right now, as it needs repair on the back.

Sparkle

So sorry, really, truly sorry. This cold/flu/ Satan Virus the  Second Boy Child gave me makes me loopy and tired.

But you don't want to hear my excuses...On with the show!

Beautiful isn't it? The detail on the dress alone makes me sigh and gives me the weepy glee's. OK,maybe a little to over dramatic on my end. :)
She's a younger bride, from a family of means. I say that because of the dress and its detail. Its not a plain white dress. It has ruffles and a satin or silk sash. The beading on the bodice is simply stunning! There, but not overly done. Enough for some sparkle.
Now he, the groom. Look at him. Distinguished. His aura radiates from this picture. A man who knows his place in the world and knows what to do to improve it.
This picture comes to us from
the Chas E. Wright Photography studio

So sorry, so sorry

I do have a nice week of posts planned and will start tonight, fingers crossed.

Another Part of my Collection.

It started by accident. It was mixed up with some old photos I had just bought. And for some reason, it broke my heart more than finding toss away wedding portraits ever could. Some couples marriage licence. The (to me) official proof that a couple had got married. Tossed away with some old pictures in a cardboard box. So I kept it. Its still as pristine as the day it was printed, which is January 31st, 1961.

So it became another part of my ever growing collection. Along with some framed decorative marriage certificates. Those, when I get a better camera, I will post pictures of someday.

Beaded Dress

Look at it! Its just so detailed!
This defiantly from the Twenties. The drop waist on her dress and her sleeves.
The Groom is quite handsome, don't you think? He looks so content, as does she.
Tomorrow, I'll let you see another part of my collection. Its not all just pictures :)

Detroit

Isn't it pretty? They are so relaxed with each other. That head dress is just darling, and lilies in the bouquet!
Unfortunately...the frame around the picture was cut. I could whimper, but I won't. At least I got the city, state and photog.

Dapper and he knows it

I am focusing on the groom today. They don't get thought of much in the wedding process, do they? Its always the Bride or the decor. But this Groom...He's Dapper and he knows it

Look at him. His stance, its like "Alright, I look good, I got this lovely woman by my side. Perfect."

Pretty little hat

I love the lace. And such a detailed bouquet. And that hat. I love it. I love how the lace matches the brim of the hat
They look so happy and content with their love for each other.

Simplicity and Extravagancy

Extravagance. That is this picture. The 20's gown. The huge bouquet. Those speak loudly to the fact that this woman was one of means,
She's a tall, handsome woman.

Simplicity is this next picture. Just as lovely. Just as beautiful.
I'd say this is the 1910's. The dress is simple. A couple of some means, enough to afford a few luxuries.

Bonnets

Bonnet? Hat? I don't really know, but its just darling.

This is my wedding dress.

Well, not really. But it is similar.
I happen to know the man in the picture. He's a sweetheart.
But, this is my dress! I have a love affair with this style. My dress is from 1949, and they got married in the early 50's, so yeah. My style. Even the veil.

Rockford, IL

Rockford, IL.
And this is another awesome dress for the times.
The waist button detail and the lines on the bodice. I really like how the sleeve flare out from the snugness of the bodice. I'll bet when she stood up the skirt flared fantastically!
And he! Doesn't he look handsome? So proud and sure of himself?
I love this picture. Everything about it.

Swedish Wedding Card.

This was given to me about six years ago. Its written in Swedish, a reminder card.
It says: (And its rather a very simple translation, if anyone out there knows Swedish and would be willing to translate, I'd be forever grateful!!) "Reminder for everyone invited, where the 'banns' and the marriage will take place. Warmest Thanks."

Happy

Sometimes, happiness needs  few words as possible. You let the moment speak for its self.

Friday, April 20, 2012

Alright...

I am going to be honest with you...This picture gives me the creeps. Its the eyes of everyone. Like the pupils of every ones eyes have been colored in. The picture is faded, but the pupils stand out. And it creeps me out.

And now that that is out of the way...
Turn of the Century. Possibly 1900's-1920's.

North Dakota

This is one of my older picture in my collections. As in, pre 1900's.
The eyelet veil is lovely. Looks like the Brides best dress for the wedding and the best suit for the Groom. Which was very common back then. You can tell form the picture what a hardworking, down to earth couple they must have been.

Pride

That's what I see when I look at this picture. Such a proud and happy couple.

I am digging the rutching on her collar and sash. See how they match? Also, the flowers on her shoulders. Looks as if they were drapped there.
And the Groom. I love the proudness of his stance, looking forward with his handsome features.

The Awesomeness that is this Picture

I just want to say that when I renew my wedding vows next year, I want a dress like this.
Look at it! Its just...ohhh. I adore it.
And look at the Groom. So handsome in his greatcoat.
I just can't get over the detail in this picture.
Everything is just awesome from the dress to the suit, even to the wallpaper and the animal skin rug on the floor.

I leave you with this.

I won't be posting tomorrow, so I am going to leave you with one of my recent finds.
I think it is a civil service wedding. Its still as glamorus and any wedding portrait I've seen

They all look so happy.
The Groom looks like he can't believe his good fortune to be married to his lovely Bride
And thier witnesses look very happy for the newly married couple.

Cigars

Look at his hand. Its a stoggie!
Acting like he's Boss.
All those lovely flowers. And the Brides wedding gown is so beautiful.
Scalloped lace hemline and shawl sleeves. So lovely.
And I'm still giggling over that cigar!

Nerves and Roses

The Brides dress is one of the most unique ones I've seen. It has a collar shawl neckline and the loveliest roses on her skirt.
The Groom looks so nervous to start their married life together. I hope they had a long and happy marriage!

This is not a wedding picture

But I find it lovely just the same. It is early 1900's...Victorian era. I adore the dresses with the matching hats. Look at the Man standing. See his watch fob? Detail. This picture captures it.

The stamp at the bottom says "Olivers Versailles, O." So the Photog was named Olivers, but as to the Versailles? Could be street name or city.  I don't know...my searches came up empty :(

Pretty Profile

They know what they are about.
I love the Brides profile. Seeing the train and quarter view of her lovely dress. Look at the detail at her hem. Divine! Her new husband is such a handsome man! Pretty classic profile on him as well. Never can go wrong with a three piece suit. Timeless.

An Officer and a Bride?

Hear that? Its the sound of me whimpering in the corner when I saw the state of this picture.
That aside, I think the man may have been an officer of some sort? The hat makes me wonder...
The Brides head dress is stunning.

Bride or Bridesmaid?

Three posts in one day...I've been very naughty this week. I'm sorry.

This one caused a bit of a debate today with the hubby.
Is it a Bride and Groom? Or a Bridesmaid and Groomsman?
Hubby says Bride because of the flowers.
I say Bridesmaide because of the length of the dress.
So you all decide.
But the detail is beautiful. I'm marking this one in the 20's era...Shoe style and dress.
