The Surprise Revealed

Remember at the beginning of the week when I said I had a wonderful surprise for you? A fantastic new picture? Well here it is. I do hope I have not disappointed you. My Hubby found this and I was floored. Never, in my years of collecting, did I ever come across one.

A Military wedding! Oh my...I almost went giddy with excitement!
Look how handsome he is in his uniform! I'm a sucker for a Military man, I'll let you know.
And her! So beautiful. I am loving the high neck collar of her dress and the floral head piece.
This picture will be proudly displayed on my shelf along with many others that capture my heart.

Minneaplois

Look at her waist! Wow, those corsets really did their job.
I wonder how long that train was?
The detail on the hem of her dress is so cute and functional. Functional because the wind would not be able to blow up her dress.

This fascinates me...

This tiny little picture, so faded. But, yet, you can see the tiniest of details.
Her dress had some very sweet ruching on the front of the bodice. At her neck line, a pretty knotted broach.  Her hair looks as if its adorned with tiny rosebuds.

The studio this was taken at was Kersting Photography Chicago, IL

Victorian Gothic Wedding Couple

Don't they seem so dark and intense?
So serious. But so beautiful and darkly...Is that a word? Well, I'm using it. It fits. Look at the simplicity of the dress. And him...*Swoon*

M.C's find

A very cool side effect of my collecting is that the whole family gets in on it. The Hubs loves the hunt. I love the find. M.C finally got in on the action Saturday. As I was pawing through a box  of someone else's memories, ( Doesn't that sound sad?) M.C came across these little beauties.

                                                                             And this one
M.C is learing how to treasure the past...but in his own way.
He wants to start collecting post cards for where ever we visit
Who knows? He may have is own blog showcasing that some day ;)

Back from Vaca...

We went to MN for vaca and on the way stopped at the Wisconsin Dells, a favorite antiquing spot for me...it never disappoints and this time was no different!

My son, MC , was with me and he found quite a few new pictures of Happy Ever Afters to enjoy! I am so excited! We (MC and I) found a set, A SET!, of wedding photographs from the same couple. They are just so darling. AND! a surprise! You will love it...my husband found it and I just adore it! So be prepared for some wonderful Happy Ever Afters!

Detroit, Mich.

Ok, I will admit, I whipmered when I saw the state of this picture. A corner torn, some light water spots.
I am dating this 1890's, turn of the century.

Flower girls.

Little Bo Peep lost her sheep....I think those flower girl dresses are just too darn cute!

Ripon, Wisconsin

By Dunn Photography
Now, remember not all wedding dresses were white. People got married in their best. Or in a Blue gown. Blue was the color of choice before white.

Look at this moustache. I *heart* those little curls at the end.

Carla and Arthur

Carla and Arthur.
I do like the name Arthur.
And I also like the sleeves on Carla's dress.
They look happy and in love. :)

Missouri Wedding

This is beautiful! I love the architecture of the church
And I especially love that this is a Family wedding picture. Both Brides and Grooms parents are there. With full wedding party.

And a bonus, my dears...August 16th, 1953. The wedding date. Very rare I find a picture with the exact date.

Full Portrait Bride

Details,details.
I love lace and pearls.
And that floral arrangement! It's diffrent. No roses, but what looks like chrysanthemums? I like it.

Charmingly Bored.

This picture makes me giggle! At first I see the beauty of a Bride and what is her  lovely Maid of Honor. Then I see the handsome, classic groom. And then....And then I see the Best Man. Do you think he's bored? Or just hates getting his picture taken?

Oh, a picture hunting I went!

I have gone hunting, fair readers! I found three new pictures. All just gorgeous! And my Darling Hubs found a Marriage Certificate! Awesomesauce!
At a glance I dated these from the Twenties and the Thirties. And the third on from the late Thirties, early Forties.

This is my picture from the Twenties. I love the flowers. The bouquet is a big as she is!
But! I think this may have been a bridesmaid and groomsman. Either way the picture is so pretty!

A Special Treat.

Now, fair readers, I share with you my most prized picture. The one that started it all. I bought this in May of 2003.

I love this picture. Out of all the ones I have, the most decorative, the simplest. This picture still makes me sigh wistfully.

This picture I have dated in the mid to late 1920's Its elegant and what I think Old Hollywood was like. It is definatly Art Deco. (My favorite era to decorate in.) Its just beautiful.

From Chicago

He looks shell shocked, doesn't he?
The brides hair is so simply done, so natural.
And the flowers...just perfect.

Something about this one....

It screams Vouge. It says, according to my best friend, Jen1, "We the Shit, Bitch."
Its so cool. I love it. Early 1900 to the early1910's

And a couple more...

I am going through my collection...And since its a Saturday and in our house it means a laid back day, I am posting a few more pictures.

Roses, baby's breath, and dapper looking men.

Yes. Look at the detail on her dress. The low back, the lace. So simple, it hurts in its elegance. And her face. Soft beauty.

Classic. Suave. Elegant.

From Where they came.

My pictures come from every where. I have pictures from Chicago, Pittsburgh, Wisconsin Dells. I love finding pictures from other states. Sadly, most of the studios are gone. Some are still around.

Todays picture is a bit special. It was given to me by a friend of mine. Its of her mother.
Its dated  Oct 12, 1946.

I love pictures with dates and names. Makes them so special
